What an awesome trip!

There were pool parties, and a huge pool party at Disney’s Typhoon lagoon, and lots of fun in the sun! Our first night in, we went to Parliament House after Michael cooked this awesome dinner. Then Friday it was Pool Party time! Complete with a vendor expo, and lots of guys walking around shirtless. ;-)

Friday night was a blast seeing Typhoon Lagoon become one huge, pool party. There was dancing, ride riding, and just good ol plain fun.

I met some really awesome people two. Here is the fabulous Mrs. Jamie.

Me and Chris

Me, Eric and Jarred

Me, Tom and Mike (two awesome guys from JAX!)

More pics are in my gallery from the event. RVOT VT (Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Ventricular Tachycardia). Now lets say that five times fast!

The medicine is doing its job, and I even get to decrease the dose a little to help with being wiped out. I can go back to exercising, and lead as close to a normal life as possible. I still get pooped a little easily, but its not too bad.

There is still a chance that ARVD is a possibility, so I just have to keep going and getting check-ups every now and then.

Off to work!

All I have to say, is I love me some Matilda Wong. If you have not had one, they are really yummy. That is the Wong, which I am gulping out of in the picture.

Then it was off to Chris and Michael’s place for some much needed silliness and fun by the pool. Michael made me one of the largest cocktails I think I have ever had, and we had a blast.

I also was able to spend the day with my nieces on Thursday. Anna made the honor roll at school, so we celebrated by heading out to Dairy Queen and then going to see the Tooth Fairy.

This week was definitely more of a challenging week for me, and next week I have the MRI for the heart condition. Hopefully all goes well on Wednesday.

I wanted to put up a post to let everyone know what has been going on this week, and what prompted my little vacation to Carolinas Medical Center this past week.

About a month ago, I began to notice that I would get winded easily after doing normal things like cleaning or running about the store. I just thought it was me being overweight, and a signal to really get on the workout plan. After one particular episode, I decided to see my doctor for advice.

My doctor ordered a heart monitor for me to wear for two weeks, and I picked that up on Thursday the 22nd at about 10AM that morning. I noticed a couple of episodes and hit the record button. By 2pm the doctor had received the first results from the heart monitor, and requested I go see the cardiologist the next morning. No big deal. Recorded a few more episodes, and then at 4pm I received a call from the Cardiologist telling me to go to the ER as quickly as possible.

So we get to the ER, and I am immediately rushed back, and the nurses start putting me on heart monitors and they even put a defibrillator on me! TALK ABOUT LOOSING IT! After being there for an hour or so, Dr. Holshouser and his assistant came in to talk to me. He explained that my symptoms are caused by one of two things, the first is nothing really to be worried about, and can easily be treated with medicine. The second, is called Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD). This one is way more serious and can throw me into Ventricular Tachycardia (V-TACH for short). This is where the heart rapidly beats and is a pre-cursor for cardiac arrest. These were the episodes that were recorded on the heart monitor that sent me to the ER.

So I was admitted into the hospital for further testing, and monitoring. Friday was spent doing a stress test, which was kind of cool and freaky at the same time. So they hook you up to the monitor, and do an ultrasound of your heart. Then you get on the treadmill, which starts out slow, then gets faster and starts to incline to get your heart rate up. I almost made it to the 4th stage, but I started going into V-TACH, and they had to get that on the ultrasound. I then started new medicine to help regulate my heartbeat. Later that day, I was scheduled for an MRI. Now for those who have been in an MRI, you know where I am coming from. I strapped in, and was put in the MRI. Since this is a Cardiac MRI they are doing, I had some extra accessories that went in the tube with me. I was doing OK, until the technician told me that I would be in the tube for two hours. Me looking like a stuffed burrito = PANIC MODE! Yes, I panicked and could not go through with the test. So they rescheduled the MRI for another date (was supposed to be today) under anesthesia. I rested Saturday, had a couple of more tests, and then sunday was another stress test. This one was much better. My heart was keeping a normal rhythm, and I made it to the 4th level without going into the V-TACH. So the medicine is working. Today came around, and I was supposed to have the MRI to see if I do have the ARVD, but scheduling didn’t go right, so I have to do that outpatient. The rest of Sunday, I spent hanging out with the nurses and even taught one how to knit!

For now, I am back at home, taking it easy this week and getting used to slowing down a little. I am not 100% out of the woods yet, but I am feeling much better about what is going on.

I do want to thank everyone at CMC who looked after, and more importantly, put up with me. My nurses and assistants, Jo Beth, Julie, Carin, Jay, Margaret, Sara (you are gonna rock as a nurse).

A BIG THANK YOU to those who called and checked up on me, and kept in-touch with me. I now I did not tell a lot of people what was going on, but thank you again for everyone checking in on me.

Well first a quick update... Tuesday’s are my best days of the week because I get to help put on a little Trivia show run by a dear friend, Roxy C. Moorecox. (See her website at www.funnydragqueen.com) Roxy came down with something horrible, and we had no hostess!

So enter Moxy... Roxy’s evil twin sister. :-) I hosted trivia and had a blast! The crowd was great, and we had a good time, but dearly, AND I MEAN DEARLY, missed Roxy.

So now the blog is back on iWeb for a while to make it a little easier to keep up with. Hope you enjoy the new website, more changes will come.
